I'm so glad that you've decided to join. I'm sorry that you've got a lot of reading material before you get started but you know what? I think it's worth the reading.
1. Of course the obvious ones. No racism, no cursing and now ponography pictures. We are all grown up and don't need that kind of immaturity. Treating others how you want to be treated, especially the staff and admins, are things to always be expected. If you think it starts drama, it probably does and that just isn't needed.
2. Roleplay with at least two people. If you get into that habit, eventually someone's going to get left out and that's unfair. Besides, you'll get used to that person's style of writing and you're writing won't change.
3. Register however you want. Fake name, alias, nickname doesn't matter. So long as that account has one character. The only account that shouldn't have a character is admin and that's me. Sorry. :/ Also go to your profile and change you're show name to all caps and the full name of your character. I never did it on the friend site and I bet my admin thought it annoying.
4. the site does have a word count, which would be two hundred words. not too bad, right? right. in addition to the word count, please, please use correct grammar and spelling. i'd rather have two hundred words of gold than five hundred words of rambling.
5. since dreams of reason is a r site, we do allow the dirty details of reality. however, in compliance with the proboards tos, please refrain from posting graphic material (including over-mature posts). fade to black, please and thank you. this includes the icr. If you want to get graphic with anything sexual, take it to some form of im, if you really want to.
6. even though we are realistic, the general rules of roleplay are still applicable. (gasp!) no powerplaying, no godmodding. if you don't know what they are, i suggest googling it.
7. please, make sure that your character is well-rounded. in your application, there'll be a section of where you can list your character's faults. (note: being so amazing at everything that everyone hates you is not a fault.)
8. as of right now, we have a limit to how many characters every one member can have. and that would be six. this is subject to change. keep the gender balance even. we don't want twenty girls to one guy (although the guy probably wouldn't mind too much.)
9. graphics shouldn't be larger than 425 pixels wide and 600 pixels tall. anything more than that will be automatically sized down. avatars can go up to 125 pixels in width and 200 pixels in height. no pornographic material please. we're not that mature. none of this glittery, sparkly stuff either. if you want a graphic made specifically for your character, feel free to PM me about it.
10. use a model, actor/actress, or musician for your face claim. (people from model mayhem are okay to use.) no obscure myspace/online idol. and if, for any reason, we deny your face claim, please, no whining. just choose another one and you'll be fine.
11. please log into all of your accounts everyday! it'll help the admins know - for sure - which characters you intend to keep active and which you do not. just a warning: you don't log into your accounts for two weeks without posting an absence thread, we will delete the account and open up your face claim.
12. okay, so you know that whole joining, but never roleplaying trend that seems to be rising with every new site that's been created? not cool. please, if you plan on joining, be a part of the site. chat in the cbox, plot with others, have fun! that's what the experience is all about. if you can't get on for one reason or another, don't be afraid to post it. it's better if you tell us you'll be gone for a month, than us assuming you don't care about the site anymore. accounts that join, but do not post an application in the first week of joining will be automatically deleted.
now that wasn't so bad, was it?
Whoohoo! Now that you're done reading (see: skimming) the site rules, you can start making your character and get posting! Get going and have fun while you're here! If you need any help or have any questions, feel free to PM this account (or any of my accounts, really) or flag me down in the cbox.
These rules are subject to change at any time.
